About Us
Our beginning is not unique. However, our ending will be. PatientPay is solely focused on moving healthcare beyond the traditional printed statement, paper check handling, and unused online portals. Headquartered in tech-rich Raleigh-Durham, NC, PatientPay was founded by our CEO, Tom Furr, based on his experiences with antiquated healthcare billing and payment systems. This may sound familiar...
Paper-based processes were error prone and inefficient
We knew that a push toward electronic billing and payment processes was exactly what healthcare needed. While paper is more comfortable for some and should be an option, we see the market shifting to the methodology we took from the start.
Patients weren’t being treated like consumers
Our founders and designers understood consumer behavior and eCommerce, having worked with Nike, Google, etc.
Providers weren’t effective at getting patients to pay
So we spoke to several providers and learned that they were only collecting between 10% — 18% of what they billed. Those results, along with the growing cost of healthcare for patients was forcing the provider to change their antiquated approach.
Patients demanded options while providers demanded lower costs and compliance
We learned the solution could not be one dimensional. We needed to create a best-in-class patient experience, while focusing on operational excellence and the compliance demands of HIPAA, TCPA, and PCI.
A better solution yields a better result
We took feedback from patients, providers and RCM experts to create a solution that drives more payments, faster, and at a lower cost, while satisfying the demands of the patient.
Where We Are
PatientPay has happy patients paying healthcare bills in every state in the U.S.
